Is China the next superpower?

With conflicts rising from every corner in the U.S. and with the globalization of every aspect of life, the Chinese seem to have a secretive and silent truth to them. They know everything about our culture, and we know nothing about theirs. That's where the power shifts, in informtation

Is China the next superpower?
yes.

i would even go so far to say that are likely to become the next world "hyper" power. (the US is the first recognized hyper power country and was so some time after the fall of USSR)

china has said for a long long time they were tired of being treated as a second rate country and were going to emerge as a superpower. the three gorges dam was just one of many things they started doing to boost themselves.

they definitely have a goal and there is no sign that they will reach it.
Reply:Yes they are. They will be in conflict with India by 2012.
Reply:I wouldn't say China is set to take over and be the world's super power but I will say that China has been setting the stage to become a heavy contender, with the fastest growing economy in the world China could very well be an economic leader. I think it is important for the US to understand China's increasing economy, as should the rest of the world. We should make plans to unify ties and trade with Chinese companies. The United States alreay has too many enemies there is no need to pass up an opportunity to strengthen both China and US economies.(Interesting side fact Wal-Mart is the #7 trader with China and represents about 7% of the US economy)
Reply:I don't think so.I know we are losing our place but I think the next superpower will come from the middle east.
Reply:they really are now and for awhile, there called the sleeping giant........
Reply:g-d i hope not. it would be the .end of our world
Reply:if all Chinese will pee at the same time the whole world will be covered with body of water.isn't more dangerous than nuke
Reply:Yes,have you heard about the Confucious 2.0?
Reply:We sure will be run by them. We owe them big time for loans and we depend on them to make all our junk for Walmart!
Reply:yes, if not already. the USA in HUGE debt to both china and japan right now. economies are everything..
Reply:Yes, I believe they are on the verge of becoming the new

"superpower". And for some reason, that frightens me.
Reply:Communism cannot give way to a long lasting super power.

With problem of population teeming the concept of superpower wud b obsolete as nations will just struggle to provide water, food to nations.
Reply:Newsflash. China is already a superpower. Nuclear power. World's largest army. World's 2nd largest air force, and 3rd largest navy. The only thing they lack is the transportation infrastructure to transport their army over a long distance. Their power is totally defensive. Therefore, just don't mess with them. I do know a little about how China thinks, and mostly, they want to be left alone. Don't attack them, and that includes any country that BORDERS them, as in Vietnam and Korea. Those countries are considered buffer zones by China. You go in there, and you are just too close. China WILL come to their aid. But they are not invaders. They are separatists. Leave them alone, and they'll do just fine. Information? They have the 2nd highest rate of illegal immigration to the U.S., and also send very qualified STUDENTS to our finest SCHOOLS to learn our best technology. So yes, they have us beat in more forms of information than you can imagine. Never underestimate the seemingly harmless waiter who you think can't speak English. He may speak it very well, in fact, probably does. And has NO problem calling home and telling someone what he "overheard" some fat American say over his MooGooGaiPan.
Reply:They should be,but why are their countrymen still migrating then? spying?
Reply:its possible
Reply:yes, and bush will make sure that happens quicker then what it will normally take

and yes don't underestimate india also
Reply:Your kidding right. China is a super power, yes, but only an economic and industrial one. they do not wield the power and respect that the USA has. They understand that any type of struggle with the USA would only result in their down fall. Even an economic struggle would have long term effect on their country. They do not have the experience and infrastructure to be a total super power. You have to remember that 1/3 the society are still farmers and the other 1/3 are underpaid factory workers that are controlled by the company. Until this changes they don't have a chance.
Reply:Well lets put it this way. By the time we make it back to the moon we will probably be able to eat at a Chinese restaurant up there.
Reply:no mexico is ha ha

viva la mexico
Reply:no they are not the next superpower, There is no way they could launch an invasion of any country and sustain their troops the way the US sustains theirs. Their equipment is crap, altough they have a metric butt ton of it.

If you notice everyone in china is trying to be more like the US. not to many people in US are trying to more Chinese.
Reply:I remember something my mum said abt ppl leaving China and im a 2nd generation irish-chinese in Ireland that even if they hate the government most would return to fight for the country. If that was true and every person of chinese descent turned on the United States it would be in serious trouble as parts of the army might turn as well and we dunno how many intellects in other countries are of chinese descent and will help the country. Most ppl don't know how many chinese there are in the world i put it close to 1.7 billion cos there is at least 300 million chinese outside of the country. P.S. My family dscends from Hong Kong and my grandparents were part of the landlord class during the cultural revolution and were almost killed by the red gaurds and i personally would help China if that ever happened.
