NOw these two giants are geting rich they can affors to eat more meat .Should we make them poor again so that the price of food will not
rise ,or stop them eating meat .
Also crops are being used for bio diesel does this make those smug conservationists feel good now
I read The price of food is rising worldwide because grain is being used to feed cattle in india and china?
Isn't it nice to blame everything to third world booming economy like China and India?
This is a total cop out response to the rising food prices.
AND, there are still so so so many poor people in China and India. Get your facts right! The rich and the poor gap in China is huge. Many people still survive on 100 dollars or so salary a month to feed a family.
And to think that it is okay for the Chinese and Indians (from India) to be poor so that YOU can buy food cheaper is beyond even the most self-centered egoistic way of thinking possible.
Reply:Idiot.
Reply:Typical American.
The rising of food (e.g: grain, soy oil, palm oil, milk, etc.) is mostly because of its demand is increasing. The cause: Oil Price. As the oil price increases, so is the demand for alternative fuel. The big exporter of soybean, corn, is cutting their quota. Guess who? USA. The result: Food price increment, as it is used for alternitve fuels, when in the past also used for foods and livestock feeds.
What's for? It is converted into aternative fuel, why? because the energy consumption of USA population per capita is the largest in the world. That is why USA is still not joining Kyoto Protocol although they are among the initiators. USA only 5% of world population, but CONSUMES 23% OF WORLD ENERGY.
Try cut your heating fuel for your winter or turn off your christmas lights in your front garden, will you?
It is better than say other countries is responsible for your food price increment.
Reply:The fuel issue is having more of an impact on food prices than anything else. With crops that are normally used for feed being diverted for fuel that is driving prices up. Farmers are paying higher prices for these grains and passing that on to the public (as they should).
Also another factor in the rising prices of foods is fuel prices. I drive a truck for a living and the price of diesel is now up to around $3.50 per gallon (the areas I drive in). I of course pass that cost on to my customers who then pass it on to theirs who then pass it on to the consumer. Just as it should be.
Reply:The grain is feed grain (a different quality than what humans eat). There are grains that have been researched for years that will withstand drought conditions of Africa. There are grains that have been researched that contain high nutrients, higher calories, etc., that could feed the entire world. The World Health Organization, The World Bank, major governments around the world, research universities in the U.S. and around the world know this.
Reply:The grain is being used to convert to ethanol.
Thus there is less to eat.
The third world loses it's free source of food, the overstock from the USA.
The price of oil goes up from price manipulation by some stone age countries in the middle east so we convert food to energy.
We should put a excise or duty tax on all food exports from the USA and use the money to support alternative energy sources.
Let 'em starve.
They can't eat that oil in those third world countries. Let them sell it to China at spot market prices.
Venezuela's Chavez should try to eat it!
India's Hindu's eating beef? What a bizarre idea!
