Can you predict the events of the future?

what do you think is going to happen on the world stage over the next 10 - 20 years? do you think the USA will fall like the roman empire? will there ever be peace in the middle east? what will become of the bird flu pandemic predictions? will george w. bush ever go on trial as a war criminal? what will come of the expression "china rising"?

Can you predict the events of the future?
Just to make clear, I am a totally scientific person.

And, yes, I do think that you can (to a limited extent) predict the events of the future.

In general, the future will be like the past.

Let me give you a simple example, and I'm not just being funny: Yesterday, I predicted before I went to bed that the sun would rise in the morning, just as it had for the past thirty years of my life. And guess what, I was right. It did.

I predict that in 20 years, Israel will still be fighting with the Palestinians.

Russia will still not be very democratic.

India and China's middle classes will continue to grow.

America's total debt will be greater.

Europe will still not have substantial military power.

The U.N. will still be helpless to prevent genocide.

Etc., etc., etc...

If a trend has been going on for 10 years or so, I would bet that the trend will continue for the next 10 years, or 20 years.

I might be wrong, but the past is the best prediction of the future.
Reply:Many predict China will rise to rival the US, not within 20 years but maybe 30-50. I agree.

I don't believe the USA will fall like the Roman Empire and I don't think it's a very good analogy. The Roman Empire didn't have globalization.

Peace in the Middle East is not likely within twenty years. They'll have to conform to the Western way of life before they can prosper. It may not be very pc but prosperity can only be achieved on the back of trade and commerce.

And no, Bush will never go on trial - who is going to try him. Maybe some backward organization will try him "in abstentia" but other than that it's not possible.
Reply:No, but you can see where we are heading..Social Secruity will be the downfall of America when the promise is broken to future generations... It has to fail its mathmatics. A hyper inflation is also a very real possiblitiy as our $$ system is based upon nothing..
Reply:China or India will come up in the near future. No doubt USA will fall
Reply:Oil will run out and then there will be no more influence from countries that have more then us. We will make these countries dependent on our technology much like we are dependent on oil. We will soon have to bankrupt China like we did the USSR. We will have a strong presence in the middle east do to the bases being built there right now, so we can fight whoever tries to stop our world domination. We will be the first true global power and these country will be under our control for many years. This war that we are in now will pail in compression to the power grab that will take place once the oil runs out. We will most likely win unless China can keep there economy Strong.
Reply:Why should I take credit for the prophetic truths of the Bible? My predictions are worthless.
