Do you think China will rise as the next superpower? it is growing rapidy economically. What should US trade policy toward China be?

What role does China play in keeping the US economy strong and growing?
well, they own us!! they buy so many of our t -bills and devalue our ecomony, taken our manufacturing jobs and may attack our interests in Asia the day after the olympics.

they hurt our economy- they take more than they give.
Reply:Zero. China damages the U.S.'s economy.

"China Is Against Free Trade. What Should Be Done About Its Protectionism?

China causes its money to fall to increase the amount of investment in China and to make its exports cheap in America.

That creates a situation where American employers cannot compete against China. Because of the inability to compete, employers are either forced out of business, or are forced to give up their patriotism to the U.S. and hire foreign workers in China.

America can compete with other countries. America is the near the top of the list in worker productivity. It out ranks Japan, India, China, almost all of Europe, etc.. However, it and the EU cannot compete against countries that artificially devalue their currencies to decrease the prices of their products in Western nations.

Allowing the trade deficit growth to continue will create a unsustainable condition where trillions of dollars of the GDP are transferred other countries. That causes a lowering of the standard of living, an increase in personal debt, slower wage growth, an increase in government debt,..."

TO Capnbill... :

That is false. China only owns a few hundred billion of the U.S.'s debt, which is just a small percentage of the U.S.'s GDP. (The U.S.'s yearly gross domestic product is $12 trillion. )

What you believe is actually communist propaganda. China only owns a small fraction of the U.S.'s debt.

Also, the U.S. does not want China to buy our t-bills. The only reason they buy is to devalue their currency. That creates a trade deficit which transfers billions of U.S. dollars to China's banks. China then uses the money to expand their military and to subsidize its industries.

China spends countless billions on making its military grow instead of China helping its estimated 900 million extremely poor people (65% of China's population).

Just a couple of years ago, a report was released the showed a large percentage of Chinese don't have enough food to eat. At the same time China is spending countless billions expanding its military. (China's leaders have said war with the U.S. is unavoidable and it is preparing for war)
Reply:It undermines it.

Congruous with it's view, that we a re a pap er ti ger.

Where will they be when the coal runs out?

Tak ing ov er afr ic a?

send that up the ladder.
Reply:China is buying up US debt and allowing the US govt to continue a spending spree unheard of in out lifetimes

becuase of thier ownership in so much US debt they could in an instant collapse our economy at will by putting all that for sale on the world market and dropping the value of the dollar to nil.

thier economy has a growth rate of 3 to 4 times that of the US and will surpass the US as the worlds largest within the next several years

US trade policy will be what China says it will be, its already becoming too late to do anything else

They have been buying mortgages and the US mainstream media ignoring this along with the Democrats and Republocans.

Do you think China will rise as the next superpower?

Yes, an economic and military, however, they are masters of subtle behavior they will wait for the current superpower(the USA) to weaken financially before dictating their wishes. Around 100 years ago a lot of Europeans and the United States were inChina running their country as if the Chinese were there to be subservient and a result was the failed Boxer Rebellion to get rid of Western influence and the Chinese have NEVER forgotten this.

The Chinese might build a maritime base in Bangladesh or Pakistan that could house the naval vessels.

it is growing rapidy economically. What should US trade policy toward China be?

It is growing rapidly and that is why they made an oil deal with Venezuela. As for the trade policy it cannot be answered right away since it requires time to think and not use gut instinct.

If you are bored and wish to investigate something in the USA

We live in a community .

As long as our community provides for its own needs then as we work hard we prosper .

Maybe international harvester should charge more for a combine since it enables competition and we have forgotten the proper use of tariffs .

Truth be told , each time a dollar leaves this country it harms our entire population .

SO a hard working legitimate seasonal worker who takes his money home is not helping our community .

When we buy goods made outside this nation it is not helping .

When we let foreign investors into our markets" it is not helping "unless of course you are paid on commission or sell their goods which means you neither produce or create anything of value yet take a piece of the pie anyhow and that is not helping out this nation .

When we spend a good portion of our income for oil and gas that is not produced here then most of our money leaves the community . This means there is less of it to go around . With less to go around who suffers the most .

The poor do .

SO with -- I have heard 40 million uninsured and 10 million homeless and now millions more going back to renting and losing the house they bought after giving away their meager savings and having paid substantial loan origination fees and commissions out , now face a much harder path to security for themselves and their families . They just lost the little bit of savings they once had and now have nothing to show for it and feel as if they have been kicked and beaten by the system .

So in summary all I have to say is that what made this nation great was when people mattered and creating jobs here mattered and not just making a pile of cash .

Because each time a pile of cash is made it comes from the labor of hard working people who have been cheated out of it by slick talking supposedly educated people with only one thought in mind . How to take what you have and have you thank them for it in the proccess .

SO if you paid attention this means that we create jobs in this country that provides our food , clothing ,cars, Televisions , cell phones and the list is huge .

That we export those goods for sale and remember we do not sell them an apple picker if we want our growers to continue to benefit and be proud members serving our community . Because the foreigners will run the damn thing 24/7 and ship in apples at half the price because some slick salesman will have talked someone into giving the apples a place on the shelf at the supermarket .
Reply:China is already a world power %26amp; They buy metals from us, mostly ......lead.

We buy fish products from them, ooodles.
Reply:Ya the US growing due to China. As we Americans wither and die economically China is building some of the most polluting factories in the world. As it is known as a country gives away all is manufacturing skills to another, It allows its self to be put in the control of another just to survive.
Reply:China is hoping to have more influence in US policy decisions by buying the influence of government officials. While that does not really help the US economy is does put ALOT of money into the Clinton campaign fund and I suspect alot more directly into Hillery's pocket. China does severe damage to the US in some ways, most notably and recent is the discovery that they use toxic materials in many of the goods they export to the US. Poisoning our children does little to help the US economy, it does make alot of money for the Chinese companies who use lead paint to make children's toys colorful and shiny.

It is likely that China will be one of the strongest powers in the world someday with the majority of the worlds population living there. They have abundant personnel resources and do not treat human life as a gift but rather as a disposable commodity.

The US trade policy should be that we only accept their goods in an equal amount to the goods they import from us and that all imports from China should be considered suspect and tested and approved before they are allowed to enter our market. While China is growing and doing well they need the US market to continue, we hold the upper hand and should use it to our advantage.
