History question on ancient china?! pleasseee helppp?
Very interesting question. Simple economies work on close net barter system. People tended to produce enough to meet their own needs and exchange goods to meet needs. With both improvements in transportation and increased crop yield came possibility of meeting needs of people far away, but barter systems brakes down, so they invented money to make trading easier. Gets to exactly what money is in simple way.
Reply:China traded with the entirity of Eurasia and with northern Africa via the network known as the Silk Road. With barter economy, a succesful trade would be extremely bulky. Imagine trading three rolls of silk and hauling home an entire tusk of ivory!
