Considering the rise in China and India across this century, what must be done to overcome conflicts/suspicion

..between the two.

State your opinion.

Both countries are competing in the following arenas which is increasing rapidly now; defence, oil and energy exploration, space technology (Moon missions and future exploration programs).

What are the practical ways these potential hazards can be overcome?

Most of current conflict is due to "unawareness" about each other cultures, languages, customs and there is not enough people-to-people contact. Moreover, China has a Communist Party leadership against India's democracy which prevents political synergy.

At least any war between the two countries should be avoided because of the number of nuclear warheads both have can only destroy civilization and do no good to anybody. None of us hope that ever happens because GREED will be the only reason for it.

In my opinion, any future problems can be overcome if:

1. China decides to become a democracy in 30-40 years time.

2. There is visa-free travel between both countries.

Considering the rise in China and India across this century, what must be done to overcome conflicts/suspicion
The same as usual - Educate people to LOVE each other %26amp; realise that material earthly gain is pointless, and remove all boarders %26amp; governments. Simple!
Reply:China will never become a Western style democracy within the next 50 years. They will become more liberalized economically and *may* develop just a few civil liberties, though that is unlikely.

The thing that I am most concerned about is their enormous population explosions. The world simply cannot support this many people, especially in terms of fossil fuels. However any suggestion of slowing the population growth down that comes from the West will be viewed very suspiciously by India and China.
Reply:The biggest problem on the planet is democracy. It is a tool of the entrenched rich ruling classes to subjugate the poor. China has avoided that and I do notice that for all your speculation, you did not investigate the best scenario of all. WHAT IF INDIA DOES THE RIGHT THING AND COPIES THE SUCCESSFUL CHINESE COMMUNIST MODEL AS ITS "DEMOCRACY"?
Reply:Why do you Americans want every darn country in the world to be a democracy. Do countries in the world tell America to be a communist country or a socialist.

Can you not mind your own business. Geez!!!!!!
Reply:The best thing leading to peace between China and India are the biggest mountains in the world. China and India have actually gone to war a number of times since Indian independence: including Chinnese Intervention into the Rann of Kutch war in the 1960s. However, China's primary strength in its number of ground troops is difficult to use when having to cross the largest mountain range in the world.

In addition, Indian nuclear deterrence is increasingly responding to China and not Pakistan.

These two countries will never be peaceful with each other: regardless of cultural exchange or democratic populations. There are simply too many tensions to make them allies in significant areas. However, the nuclear and geographic boundaries should keep them in check for the next 50 years. The largest problem would be intervention between both of them in South East Asia. Both countries will largely asquire regional ambitions in the coming decades and if both expand into South East Asia there is a large possibility of regional wars. I think that U.S. support of South East Asian countries should maintain the status quo where India and China can tolerate each other.
Reply:Simple. Have the US butt in on their affairs.

Then we'll give them both a country to loathe.

Then they'll drop their differences in light of their newly founded hatred of the US.
