Isn't it just weird that people actually believe China will become a superpower , It isn't even a major power

And people are already trembling with fear because of the "soc alled rise of china , lol and they even go so far as to say India and Brazil are future major powers. Isn't it sad that these people do not believe in American superiority and that our great and glorious leaders will never let this powerful and technologically advanced fall behind the likes of China and LOL worst of all India!

Woohooo American nationalism rears it's incredibly stupid head.
Reply:Therein lies your problem. Military technology has progressed too far actually to be of any real use anymore on the scale you seem to be thinking. Yes, we have nukes that can go farther than China's nukes. But I would remind you that we can't use that many of them because then we may cause a nuclear winter and kill the whole of humanity. Life will continue, but humans will not--so we still lose, though we won't be around to care.

More likely however, is that nuclear technology is too slow to make a difference anymore. ICBM's (Inter-Continental Ballistic Missile--the delivery system for a nuclear warhead) move at around 18,000 miles per hour. Sounds fast, but you must realize that the intercepting missile travels at just under 186,000 miles per second (not per hour, per second--just under the speed of light). Our nukes are basically worthless because they will be shot down before they can deploy.

So we must stick with our more usable and less lethal technology. Which means we must go soldier to soldier against China if that arises. And with a billion people to our 300 million (that is more than a 3-1 advantage for them), they have the edge in manpower; and they are close enough in technology to where we don't have a real edge there. Added that they have the fastest growing economy on the planet while ours is actually on a downhill track right now, and they have the ability to outman and outgun us and very soon too.

And I am somewhat surprised that anyone believes in American superiority like that. By all means I agree that right now America is the biggest superpower militarily speaking, but that is all it is superior in. Economically speaking Japan and Sweden beat America, and China is very close on America's heels. China also isn't wasting resources on a war that is never-ending, all of its resources are remaining with China while ours are being drained away in Iraq.

For all intents and purposes, all people are equal. America as a whole is not more or less intelligent than anyone else. But America does have the problem of being too rich. We have repeatedly seen it throughout history. When a country reaches the top of the game and its citizens are living the good life, they rest on their laurels, so to speak. They lay back in the belief that they are better than everyone else, and quit trying to press on. Americans have become lazy and complacent, and it is dragging America down. At the same time, China is so close to being at the top they can taste it, so they are pressing harder and harder to get there. It shouldn't be too long before it catches up to us and maybe even surpasses us.
Reply:Ummm... the Brits felt that way about their Empire, as did the French, Romans, Byzantines, etc...

Why do you think that America is going to be the only empire EVER in the WHOLE HISTORY OF THE WORLD to somehow not decline?

Plus, a lot of our wealth has had to do with scientific patents from research. Present bans or restrictions on cloning, stem cell research, etc... are going to allow otherwise less-developed nations the opportunity to pull ahead in certain areas with long term financial results...
Reply:Well, I wasn't worried until I read this.
Reply:When I see Americans like you I start to worry about, if you're the best we got to offer we're in deep doo doo then
Reply:baisically china are increasing in industry so enviromentally they are going to be an independant factor which leaves the western world having to go begging to them or take in the war train and war between nuke ready countries aint good
